Initiative means being ready to take advantage of opportunities when they come up.

It’s too easy to think twice, and then the chance might be gone. But it is also important to “look before you leap.” Give things some thought and make sure you’re making the best choice for you.

We need people around us who help us keep in mind what we want to happen. People who have a lot of support, or even just one person who is on their side, do better than those who are on their own.

Spend more time with people who are positive and motivated. This could be as easy as having a quick chat with a friend who likes to talk about ideas.They will help you grow and see opportunities when things are hard.

When things get hard where we try to achieve our goals, positive people can help you reframe, redirect, and refocus. To stay positive, we need people who can understand us, see us, and help us.

On the other hand, being in an environment that isn’t helpful can cause mental and physical pain that slows down progress toward good goals.

Share your ideas with your friends and help them get going. Seeing other people do well will make you want to do well too. Write about your success and ask people what they think.

Once you’ve reached the point where you regularly help other people stay motivated, whether through a blog or by talking with peers, you’ll find that each part of staying motivated gets better and better. You will slowly learn some skills that will help you stay motivated.

When you help people who are having trouble, it can be kind of addicting and push you to do better.

Notice what has gone well and what has changed for the better, no matter how small. This is a way to practice thankfulness.

A gratitude practice can make you feel good about how far you’ve come and teach you how to move forward in the best way. Having an “attitude of gratitude” has also been shown to be helpful. These include getting you to be more self-motivated, giving you access to new opportunities, and making you healthier, which you’ll need to keep going.

Get some sleep.

Rest, rest, rest! To stay motivated, we need to give ourselves time to stop and regroup, especially when we are stressed. Taking care of yourself by taking breaks to rest and relax will help you keep going. And when you do hit a low point, taking a break makes you stronger.

Celebrate achievements

Look back and think about how many miles you’ve gone. This will give you fuel for your next move. When your hard work pays off, you have every right to celebrate and be proud of yourself.

Do whatever makes you feel like a superstar when you have a small win or reach a milestone on your journey. That could mean giving yourself time to walk on the beach, celebrate with family and friends, or get a massage.

Setting goals and working toward them is hard work, and you should reward yourself for it.

Change doesn’t happen all at once, but it’s worth the effort!
